Steven was just showering up, and noticed that Lucas was not yet home. He looked over to Ella. "Should we get worried yet?" He asked, knowing darn well that Lucas was fine, and probably lost track of time.
“I think he’s okay,” Ella said with a smile. “He is just enjoying his last day before we leave.”
"After 2200 hours, I'm going out to look for him." Steven said, with a big grin on his face, as he started to get dressed again. The shower was relaxing, especially after an intense moment they experienced just a little bit ago.
Ella grinned back at him. “He will be so happy to know how concerned you are to come and find him with his friends.”
"Lying is not your strong suit." Steven pointed out to her. He had a big grin on his face. "We have rules for a reason. Especially on a Starship." Steven pointed out to his lovely wife.
“I was teasing you,” Ella said with a laugh. “If he isn’t back by 2200 I will be going with you. Lucas is always on time, he gets that from you.”
"Oh dont start that, we both know he is constantly late, he gets that from you." Steven said, in counter protest style tone.
“If that is the worst habit he has then we will be lucky parents,” Ella said with a smile. “I will speak to him about his lack of punctuality when he gets home.”
"You're the best sweetie." Steven said, he knew his captain style approach would not be the best approach for one so young.
“Dont expect Lucas to change overnight,” Ella said with a grin. “But he will get better.”
"Captain's have a lot of expectations." Steven said, with a loving grin on his face. He was more than Lucas's Captain. He was also his father.
“So I have heard,” Ella murmured in return with a grin of her own. “It will be interesting to see how many of them are fulfilled.”
"All of them, where not raising a monster." Steven pointed out to her.
“Of course we aren’t,” Ella said in agreement. “Lucas will do his best but what happens when your expectations and his don’t mesh.”
"Luckily for me, the captains law is final." Steven said with a big grin.
“You really like that too,” Ella laughed softly. “Don’t you?”
"I would be lying if I said no." Steven said, with a big grin on his face. He meant that to be playful.
“I hope Lucas has your sense of humor when he grows older,” Ella said with a smile. “Instead of the serious side of me.”
"He'll need it, in order to survive living on the Lexington." Steven again teased his wife, in a playful manner. And a big grin on his face.
“He makes friends easily,” Ella said, thinking out loud. “He will survive just fine.” She grinned at him. “He has the best of both of us.”
"You have done a good job by him." Steven said, as he pulled her close.
“We have,” Ella said as she kissed him. She may have had more a hand in the day to day raising but Lucas looked up to his Dad.
"I think you are being very generous Mrs Bond." Steven said, with big loving eyes.
“I will always be generous with you,” Ella murmured, emotion in her voice.
"This is a big reason, I married you." Steven said, as he stared into her eyes.
“Best day of my life,” Ella said with a sign. “Was the day we got married. That and having Lucas.”
"Every day, is the best day of my life. As long as your there by my side." Steven suggested to her, with a big grin on her face.
Ella smiled, wrapping her arms around him. “You are up to something.”
"Yes, what else is new." Steven said, with a big grin on his face. As he leaned in for a small kiss. "Don't worry, I will keep you in the loop, each step of the way." Steven said, in a smiling grin on his face.
“I am sure you will,” Ella said as she returned his kiss. She was waiting to see if he was headed where she thought.
"I will." Steven said, as the scene starts to fade away.
Ella smiled at his words and their kiss continued.
"I need to do my captain's log in a bit, before we retire for the night." Steven pointed out to her, with a big grin on his face.
“I should track our son down,” Ella said. “All kidding aside he is about a half hour late.” She looked at her husband. “You know I hate tardiness.”
"I thought you suggested, we should learn to be patient and realize he is a teenager." Steven said, in a teasing manner. Deep down he agreed with her.
“We should but a half hour is the length of my patience level for Lucas,” Ella said with a smile. “I know he isn’t in trouble but he needs to keep his word.”
"Your starting to sound like me, I love it. Captain!" Steven said, with a big grin on his face.
Ella laughed, shaking her head. “I think you are right, poor Lucas won’t know what bit him.”
"Oh no big talk about why you can't be the captain, and I can't be the chef. Cool, I hope the crew loves my mean and cousine top ramen." Steven said, with a teasing grin on his face. He knew he was a horrible cook.
Ella smiled at him. “I just happen to be both a good cook and teacher which is lucky for you.” She shook her head. “I have no desire to run the ship anymore than you do to teach a class.”
"I like teaching, just not with food." Steven said, with a big smile on his face. He knew he sucked at cooking.
“You are a good teacher,” Ella laughed softly. “In your own way.” She waited to see what he said next.
"I know to quit, when I am ahead." Steven said, with a big grin on his face.
“I always say you are the smartest captain,” Ella grinned. “And husband.”
"Well we both know the truth, behind every great man is a great woman.", Steven said as the scene starts to fade away.
Ella smiled at his words. They complimented each other and were better people because of it.
