"Commander T'Sal." Called out April with a big grin on her face. She was on the bridge with the first officer. She could see Hunter in the background, but most of the senior officers were near the transporter room getting ready to say their goodbyes.

“Ensign Collins.” T’Sal replied in a monotone voice. She noted the expression of happiness and it seemed logical it was in regards to their departing .

"It's going to be a big day today." April suggested to T'Sal. She was excited for the fact that she was the new USS Lexington Chief Control Flight Officer. Her conversation with Lieutenant Ama, was very helpful to her.

“Is there a function I am not aware of.” T’Sal stated. She did recall the captain informing her of a special occasion.

"I suppose you can call it that. Today is my big day, first day on the job as the new Chief Control Flight Officer." April said with a big grin. She was very proud of herself. She had not expected this day to come so quickly.

“Understood.” T’Sal replied. She observed April’s heightened excitement and accepted she was happy. “I believe congratulations are in order.”

'Understood.' Did she really say that? What is wrong with her, April wondered. At least she was being polite with the congratulations follow up comment. She smiled as she looked over to T'Sal. "Thank you sir, I appreciate this opportunity." She said, knowing they could have brought in an outsider instead of filling it in house.

T’Sal thought for a moment, trying to think of something ‘human’ to say that would be appropriate. “You have worked hard for it. It was well deserved.”

"That is very kind of you to say, Commander." April said, thinking to herself, that must have been hard for her to say. April was trying to get her to open up more, maybe tell her congratulations and that she is proud of her. But instead she got the classic you earned it. Something a boss that had no emotional connection to you would say. She was vulcan alright, there was no doubt of that.

“Kind?” T’Sal repeated the word. No one had ever accused her of being kind before.

"It's an expression of gratitude." April said, hoping she did not make a big deal, this was her attempt to see if she could get the first officer to say something more impactful and beneficial to her. April was not sure why it mattered at this moment, but it did.

“I see.” T’Sal replied. She did not understand why April was grateful. She would ask Paul about this later.

April hid her dissapointment, she decided best to move on. With a grin she went on to say. "Enough about me how's your day been, Commander?" April last hoping to lighten the mood a little.

“It has been suitable.” T’Sal returned. She had never given thought to what a day felt like.

"Sorry Commander, am I rambling to much?" April asked, feeling that she might be trying to hard to be liked by her.

“It is understandable.” T’Sal returned. “Humans tend to be excitable and talkative when they are expressing happiness.”

"I suppose we do. This is a day of celebration. We have new coming aboard. Heard great things about our new chief operations officer." April said, trying to keep the conversation going. It was a little bit of a struggle for her.

“I have read the file.” T’Sal responded. “Very qualified for the position.”

"I am looking forward to meeting her." April suggested with a big grin.

“I am certain the opportunity will arise soon enough.” T’Sal returned.

"Have you served with the Lieutenant before?" April asked, not sure if she was new just to April or if she was new to everyone aboard.

“I have not.” T’Sal informed her. “It will be a new experience for all.”

"I regret not getting to know Lieutenant Ama that well. I don't want to make that mistake again." April pointed out to the first officer, she was admitting her own faults too.

“Connections with others are essential.” T’Sal agreed. “Vulcans believe strongly in them among our people.”

"I did not know that." April said, with a big grin. She loved the fact that T'Sal was sharing this information with her.

“Vulcans believe in close relationships.” T’Sal explained. “And our bonds have deep meaning and strong connections.”

"That is very fascinating. Hopefully we grow a deep bond, sir." April said, wondering if it sounded like she was sucking up.

“I am finding it acceptable to gain friendships here.” T’Sal commented. She looked at April. “Would you join me for lunch today?”

"Me?" April asked, with a shocked look on her face. This was completely unpredicted.

“It would be logical to assume so.” T’Sal replied. “We are the only two present.”

April was a little surprised to hear her say that. They were other bridge officers, probably scared to speak up. Most of them were replacement officers. Most of the senior staff was saying goodbye.

April already said her goodbye to Ama. She really had no one else to say goodbye too.

"Alright, we can do that. Sir." April said with a big grin on her .

T’Sal gave her a slight nod. She wasn’t certain what the appropriate action would be. “Understood.”

April was not sure what to say. She grinned for the moment. In my mind, she debated what to ask next.

“Is there any nourishment you wish to avoid.” T’Sal asked her. Humans appeared to put great importance in food.

"Mushrooms mainly, but there are foods I dislike." April said, realizing that was not much of an answer.

“There are some I find distasteful as well.” T’Sal acknowledged. “Mushrooms are one that I prefer.”

"to each there own I suppose." April say with a big green on her face. The scene starts to fade away.

T’Sal wondered at her comment but decided to ask her what that phrase meant later.

"Well you look quiet atonishing tonight." Steven said with a big grin on his face. He was clearly kissing up for something. The question was, did Ella know why?

Ella looked at him and smiled. “Thank you.” She replied waiting to see what he was up tp. Steven complimented her but astonishing was a stretch.

"How are things going in the classroom?" Steven asks is he started to chime into the conversation lightly. He knew they were still on a lunch break and still had a few more hours ahead of her.

“Very well.” Ella replied. She paused for a moment. “They are a good group of children.” Her eyes met his. “How are things going on the bridge?”

"New ops chief, she is doing well. So is my new chief helmsman." Steven said with a grin. He was stalling for time. Trying to debate how to bring up the topic.

“That is good to hear.” Ella replied with an innocent smile. “There is enough to deal with being the captain already.”

"How would you feel about adding a dinner night I don't mean just with the senior staff I'd like to invite other people maybe like a big social gathering probably no more than 20 people?" Steven ask knowing that he was in for it now, asking his wife and himself and their son to host 20 people at least once a week would be a little texting on anyone.

Ella stared at him for a long moment. “If I agree to this we will share the planning and work of the party together.” She paused. “And you will have the honor of bringing Lucas on board.” Ella smiled. “Why do you want to do this?” She asked finally.

"Bring Lucas on board?" Steven asked a little puzzled. What did she mean by that?

“My mistake.” Ella smiled. “I assumed you would expect that he attend these dinners” Her eyes lit up. “We both know how he feels about functions outside his gaming.”

"He will adapt." Steven said with a big grin on his face.

“He should be warned at least.” Ella countered. “Lucas knows he won’t have a choice but it might make things easier.”

"Let me know how that works out." Steven said, with a big grin on his face.

“Oh no.” Ella shook her head. “I am agreeing to these dinners as long as you speak with Lucas.”

"I'll speak to him." Steven said, with a twisted grin on his face. "If you want the insensitive and captain mentally to come out. Who am I to argue your pure logic."

Ella wasn’t fazed by his words. “I trust that the Captain Bond I know will use discretion when it comes to dealing with his young son.” She smiled at him. “You have a way of getting Lucas to do things he doesn’t want to without him being upset.”

"Some point the boy needs to grow up, he is not five anymore!" Steven suggested to his very protective wife and mother of his son.

“He isn’t.” Ella agreed. “But at his age most kids think their parents don’t know a thing.” She grinned. “Would you be happy to do this at his age?”

"Yes!" Steven said with a big grin. He remembered how strict his father was.

Ella shook her head. “Most children would not.” She thought back to when she was younger. “I would have made Lucas look like a saint.”

"I hope you realize that I am teasing." Steven said, thinking to himself that Ella was taking this over parenting thing a bit to far.

Ella laughed. “I do but it did remind me of what a difficult child I could be.” Her eyes lit up. “Truth is Lucas might grumble but he will be fine with it.”

"He is a teenager, he is suppose too." Steven pointed out to his lovely wife. If he did not, he would be deeply concerned.

Ella grinned. “This is just a part of fatherhood, you enjoy that heart to heart with him.”

"A captain leads by example; I'll make sure he sees that. Good thinking." Steven said, not letting go of the teasing he was doing to his wife. He was egging her on, trying to get her react to his nonsense.

Ella stared at him for a long moment. “What are you up to?” She finally asked. Steven had that look in his eye,
He had a plan.

Steven just grinned. "Never could get one past you, huh?" He asked, as he continued to try.

“No.” Ella replied with a grin of her own. “So tell me.”

"Well you look at that time's up, I believe Commander T'Sal wants to meet with me." Steven said is he stood up getting ready to leave the area, just a few minutes before he had sat down but now he was trying to be a funny guy.

“Leave this room without telling me.” Ella said with a grin. “And I may be busy this evening.”

"Teacher's life for you! Always busy." Steven said with a grin.

“Make up your mind.” Ella replied. “I am busy as you said.”

"I was just agreeing with you I'm not trying to change your mind." Steven said with the big grin growing even bigger.

“Since you aren’t sharing your hidden agenda.” Ella replied with a smile. “I will do my best to make it to your dinner tonight but I won’t guarantee.”

"I never said you were making it." Steven said with a big grin on his face. He had every intention of helping out.

“Another words there is no need for me to be there.” Ella asked him. She was confused by his reply he seemed unconcerned she might not make it home in time.

"It's our home, my love." Steven suggested to her. Maybe she did not understand his request.

“Of course it is our home.” Ella knew whatever Steven was up to he didn’t intend to share it. When Ella found out, eventually, it was probably true that she would not be happy. “Did you have a menu planned?” She asked him, changing the subject.

"Pasta, it's easy and hard to screw up." Steven suggested.

Ella smiled at him. “That is a good call.” Her eyes met his. “We will be able to handle it without a problem. I can make salads as well.”

"I'll see you tonight." Steven said, as the scene starts to fade away. Finally she had come around and was now on board.

“You will.” Ella smiled in return. She knew he was up to something and let it go though she wondered why he didn’t just tell her.
