April was right behind T'Sal in line, and noticed immediately that the Chef, had a thing for the First Officer. She just grinned, as she watched the scene get ready to unfold.

“Ensign Collins.” Hunter said in greeting from behind her. “We meet again.”

"You can call me April, you know." She pointed out to him. She was not of formality between friends.

“April.” Hunter repeated her name with a smile. “Shall we share a table?”

"I would like that." April said with a big grin. She followed his lead.

Hunter smiled as well. “Any place in particular you want to sit?”

April grinned, knowing that he would like her answer. "Can we get a table for two?" She asked. She did not want a lot of company. Plus she wanted to spend time getting to know him.

“Yes.” Hunter nodded. “I like the way you think.” It would be easy for them to get to know each other better.

"I like that table." April said, it was the closet one to them both.

“So do I.” He said as they headed over. He placed his tray on the table and sat down across from her. “How’d your morning go?”

"Being on the bridge, is very cool. A little stress, but I like it." April said, with as she thought the morning.

“I like bridge duty as well.” Hunter said with a smile. “But mostly I am happy when I am in engineering making certain there aren’t any issues.”

"just keep my engines running smoothly." April said with a teasing grin.

Hunter laughed. “I will definitely keep my eyes on your engines.” He loved her sense of humor.

"Seriously though, how can any engineer love the bridge?" April said, thinking to herself that did not make sense. Most engineers are obssessed with their engines.

Hunter smiled. “I said like it, not love it” He looked at her. “It is a nice change once in a great while and I get to see how things are running there.”

"Are you sure your an engineer?" April asked, wondering if he missed his calling.

“I am.” Hunter frowned. “It sounds like a stigma that engineers can’t like anything else.”

"A stigma for a good reason. I will admit my first love is the ship." April pointed out to him.

“Mine too.” Hunter grinned. “But for me it’s the engines and the warp drive. Being down there just makes me happy.”

"Yet you throw her way, you said so yourself. Don't try to back peddle now. You know what you said." April said, not letting him off the hook. She did not want his bad vibes rubbing off on her. She knew that ships could be sensitive.

“I love my engines and like the bridge on rare occasions.” Hunter replied. “

"But you litterally just contridicted yourself. Are you only saying that to get me off your back?" April said in teasing voice.

“No.” Hunter replied with a smile. “I will die to protect the engines but the bridge.” He grinned. “They take a back seat.”

April was not buying that load of crap he just spilled. He was really full of it. His overcompensation told her all she needed to know. He wanted down her pants and would say anything.

Part of her was flattered, but then another part of her felt insulted. She would prefer that he just be honest. She was not a fan of the subtle word changes. He was only trying to stay on her good side. She did not like that. She would prefer him to be honest.

Hunter sensed their conversation had taken a turn and not for the good. He looked at her for a long moment. “What is wrong?”Had he said something stupid?

"Nothing." April said, it was not her job to point out his mistakes. Maybe he believed there was nothing wrong.

“It isn’t nothing.” Hunter insisted. “I like you. Not just as a friend. I would like to spend some time together, Maybe have some dinner dates and see where this takes us.” He shook his head. “That was out in left field and sudden I am sorry.”

"I would prefer if you were honest, and you are playing games. But that's your thing. Cool, but its not what interest me. I am an honest person. I want that from any friend that I have. Life is to short, to play head games." April said to him, he asked for it. Now he got it!

“One minute we are teasing about the engines and the next you think I am not being honest?” Hunter was really confused how. “What is dishonest about me wanting to take you out to dinner and get to know you? Did I read this wrong and you aren’t interested?”

"Have you ever met an engineer not in love with his engines first?" April pointed out to him.

“Nope.” Hunter said. “We are pretty attached to them. Have you?”

"I get it, you have an ego, and want to get down the girls pants. However be honest about it. Don't hide it. Trust is the foundation to a healthy friendship. Without it, you will never have it." April pointed out to him. Especially with her. If she could not trust him, there was no them.

“You think I asked you to eat with me for sex!” Hunter’s eyes widened and he felt insulted. “Am I attracted to you, hell yes I am but I am not sitting at this table hoping to get laid. My whole reason was to ask you out and see how we got along.”

"Wow, way to prove my point." April suggested to him. "However you missed the real message." She pointed out to him.

Then she continued on to say, "my point in mentioning the basic biological need to have sex, is to be honest. It's what I am looking for a potential partner. I was more referring to your ability to lie to my self over your comments about loving sex over your engines. My first love will be the ship, I can admit it." April said to him, seeing that maybe he only wanted sex. The topic clearly made him defensive.

Hunter thought about her words and looked at her. “I thought we were teasing one another. The engines on this ship are my priority. They come before everything, not only do they have to but I love my job.”

"If you are going to tease, at least be honest about it. I know I can not compete against the Lexington. My backside does not look as good as hers does." April said in a teasing voice. The scene starts to fade away.

Hunter smiled at her. He wasn’t going to say a word in response to that one.
