Mission: S1, E0: We need each other.
Location: Various
Timeline: MD003 0740 hrs
1007 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Location: CO Ready Room

Steven was just leaving his personal office that happened to be linked to his quarters. He was reviewing the last minute files on the crew roster. The Lexington was now ready to go.

The ship was ready to go. The ship was fully stocked, and the crew were boarded. Now all he needed to do, was get up on the bridge, and give the order to leave space dock.

Steven looked outside of the window, and could see one of the pylons just outside his window. He knew the ship would not be back in dock, until she completed her mission.

Speaking of the ship, he was glad that Captain Pike recommended to the fleet to remove the holographic terminals on the constitution class starships. They would be using good old fashion monitor style communications.

He had no idea, why he was thinking about that system at this very moment. Maybe it had to do with the fact, he had just ended a call with Admiral Montoya with Starfleet Command. And they were using monitors and not the ghost like holographic avatars.

Steven continued to look out of the window for a moment, as he saw his reflection in the window. "Your ready, Captain." Steven said to himself, as he could see the concern in his eyes. This was a big step for him. To lead a five year mission.

The Lexington's five year mission was now given a green light to begin. He knew that, and so did the crew. He wondered, what they would find out in the great unknown sectors of the Alpha Quadrant and Beta Quadrants.

With a data pad in his hand, he started to make his way to the door. He took a deep breath, as he gathered his composure, and walked out of the room. A couple of junior officers, called out Captain. He simply nodded, as he walked over to the turbo lift.

Steven had a big grin on his face, even though he was nervous inside, his exterior was going to show a strong and proud leader. He was proud of his crew, and the obligation they all gave to see this five year mission through. He believed they were all up to the challenge.

His strides were long and prideful, his grin was reaping confidence when he boarded the station turbo lift. He could see April Collins, he gave her a simple nodded.

Location: April Collins Quarters

April was in the mirror, putting on her gold uniform. The new uniforms were more comfortable, than they first generational release. These were loose but still form fitting. More comfortable to wear in a long term scenario.

She was a little sad, that there was no bars to show on the uniform. She was simply and ensign. And she knew she needed to work her way up the ranks. There would be time for that, for the moment. She just needed to take in the moment.

She was about to go on a five year mission. She was sacrificing a lot. She knew it was worth it, despite the cost. She wanted to explore the stars, and thanks to the Lexington, she would be given that opportunity.

She was sad to be leaving her friends and family behind. She knew the crew of the Lexington would become a family to her. And she would make new friends along the way.

April smiled as she re adjusted her uniform, then started to walk towards the door. Her next stop was the bridge. She took one last look at her quarters, then started to head out of the room. She had a big grin on her face, as she started to stroll down the corridors towards the turbo lift.

Location: Turbo Lift 1

"Morning Ensign. Ready to start the first day of our five year mission?" Steven asked. He knew he was ready, but he wanted to see if she was? For him, this was a chance to lead others. For her, this was a chance to explore the great unknown. Did she share his enthusiasm, he wondered?

April was a little surprised to see the captain approaching her direction. As she heard him speak, the only words that came to her mouth was, "Yes Captain, I believe most of the crew is itching to get under way, and see what is out there." April said, with a big grin on her face.

"I personally can not wait, to see what is out there." Steven suggested to his Helmswoman. He was relieved to see that she did share his enthusiasm for the mission, they were about to partake in.

They were not the first crew, to attempt or complete a five year mission. But this was her chance to be apart of history. She was not missing this for anything.

"If I may be a little a cheesy, Captain." April said, with a big grin on her face. She paused for a moment, then continued on. "The future, and new alliances wait for us!" She said, with a big grin.

"I have a feeling you may be right." Steven said, as the turbo lift continued to head towards the bridge. He paused for a moment, then continued on. "Let's see where the future takes us." Steven said, as he leaned in towards her. They were standing side by side. She was a little shorter than him, so he wanted to make sure she heard him.

"I'll see you on the bridge, Ensign." Steven said, as he was the first one to leave the turbo lift. He had a big grin on his face as he strolled onto the bridge. He could see that everyone was focusing on him.

April smile grew. She was very excited to get the mission started. The doors to the turbo lift opened, and she could see the bridge. It was filled with commotion. She allowed the Captain to leave first, she followed closely behind him. The scene starts to fade away.
