Steven walked into the room. "Good, caught you in the nick of time." He said, noticing that she was on a break. He did not want this conversation taking very long. He wanted to run by his wife, that was on his mind for the past few days.

Ella looked up and smiled at her husband. She knew for him to stop by between classes he had something on his mind.

“I have a few minutes before class.” Ella replied with a smile. “What is up?” She was curious as they had seen each other for breakfast just a few hours earlier.

"I have something I wanted to bring up with you, give you time to think about it. And possibly discuss it tonight." Knowing darn well that she would want to discuss it now. Saying they will discuss it later, typically meant for him, they would not be.

“Okay.” Ella said, almost grinning. They both knew neither of them were wait and talk about it later people. “Let me have it, I may have an opinion now.”

Steven took a deep breath, as he laid it out for her. He told her what was on his mind, no playing around or tippy toeing about. "How do you feel about hosting a weekly dinner with the senior staff and a couple of special invited guests? Like how Margrett use to do for her crew?" Steven asked, thinking they needed to put their kitchen really to test, and he needed to learn to bond with his crew.

Ella looked at him. “That seems kind of sudden. How long have you been thinking about this?” She didn’t mind at all. In fact, she thought it was a good idea she just wanted more information.

"For a few days, started to think about how much I missed dinner with my old captain. Plus I heard Pike does it on the Enterprise and it goes pretty well for him and his crew." Steven suggested to his lovely wife.

“I see.” Ella said quietly. “And what else do you think was a part of this decision?” She sensed their was more. “I mean it’s a great idea and I am on board but it’s more than something you heard another Captain is doing.”

"What do you mean, what else?" Steven asked a little confused. He was trying to scramble in his mind, what she was talking about. To him, it was cut and dry. He wanted to become close to his crew, like his captain was to them. Deep down in his own thoughts, to make it easier on him. Five years with no close relationships, would make this mission drag out.

“Steven.” Ella reached out and took his hand in hers. “I know you better than anyone. You’ve been thinking about this for days. It feels to me like something happened to put you in this direction.”

"I feel like we are not bonding as a crew just yet, plus it does not help that Starfleet has already pulled several of my key officers that I wanted for this five year mission." Steven said, as he decided to let his wife in on how he was feeling.

“Having this party will help us connect better.” Ella murmured. “Even our son will get to know the crew.” She smiled as her eyes lit up. “I like the idea of this being more than just your crew.”

"I want it to be a reaccuring event." Steven suggested to his wife. That was asking a lot of her and of their son. And he knew that. He wanted her support, before telling Lucas.

“How often are we talking?” Ella asked him, though it didn’t matter. She was going to support Steven no matter what.

Steven had a big grin on his face, then he said what the big smile. "I was hoping weekly but I'll settle for every other week." Steven suggested hoping that she would choose the first option.

“Once a week is fine.” Ella replied. “We make a good team. It is our son you will get to convince.”

"Let me know how that goes. Thanks, Babe." Steven suggested as he started to head towards the door. With a big grin on his face. Knowing his wife was not going to let him get away with that.

“Oh no.” Ella shook her head. “I will send him to the ready room after class today.”

"No children allowed on the bridge." Steven said in a teasing manner.

Ella laughed. “Something tells me the captain will make an exception for his son.”

"No, but I will allow you the honor of chatting with him. Consider it a bonding experience." Steven again suggested but in a teasing voice.

“I have no problem speaking with Lucas.” Ella returned. “About anything but the dinner idea. He listens to you.”

"Does not sound re assuring." Steven teased, wondering if he was taking it to far. But she did open the door on this response.

“I wasn’t trying to reassure you.” Ella said with a smile. “Only to let you know that Lucas will be stopping by.”

"I hope so, he lives with us." Steven said with a big grin.

Ella laughed. “For you to explain about the weekly dinners. Don’t think you will get away with this.”

"Captain's are given a lot of leway." Steven suggested with a big grin, knowing he had to go soon.

“They are and I understand that.” Ella grinned. “Lucas isn’t a part of your crew, he is your son.”

"Indeed he is." Steven said, not really diving to deeply in that one.

“So we are in agreement.” Ella smiled. “You will explain his responsibilities to the weekly dinners and I’ll be the complaint department afterwards.”

"Perfect, his first complaint will start tonight." Steven said as he made a dash for the door. With a big grin on his face.

“Steven!” Ella shook her head as she called out. “And so will mine!”

"Number One, will look forward to reading them." Seven said, knowing he needed to talk to Lucas.

Ella smiled at him. “Now that would be interesting.”

"Even Vulcan's have sense of humor, good luck getting it out of her." Steven said with a big grin.

“Me?” Ella smiled. “Now that is something I just might be able do for.”

"Might be a loosing proprosition." Steven suggested to her, as he inched closer to the door.

“Are you purposely trying to challenge me to do this?” Ella grinned. “You know I hate being told something is impossible.”

"No." Steven said, as the doors to her office started to open up. He had a big grin on his face.

“Good thing.” Ella smiled widely. “Because I might have given you an emotional Vulcan.”

"That would have interesting to see." Steven said with a big grin.

“Be careful what you wish for.” Ella grinned. “I can’t even imagine an emotional Vulcan.”

"I'm not the one wishing it." Steven suggested to his lovely wife. Choices have consequences.

“Touché.” Ella said. “It will be fine once Lucas gets used to fraternizing with the enemy.” She was teasing him.

"Works for me. I'll see you tonight my love." Steven said as the scene starts to fade away.

“Have a good day.” Ella said with a smile and turned to get ready for her class.
